I'm doing R&D for joins between a datadictionary and a directory of existing tables. An application of a partner is migrating to datadictionary's while ours will not be migrated this year.

What works fine is creating a join within the datadictionary with a table in a directory of existing tables: SELECT * FROM CLIENT INNER JOIN "\bebertapp01\SMU2005\klanteninstallaties\SAW Demo\Syscom\SAW\299_BAF MANAGER NV\SCMFISCALACCOUNTS.ADT" as FISC ON FISC.CODE = CLIENT.COMPTA

In some special cases our code contains SQL instructions who join in the other direction. From a table in the directory of existing tables to the datadictionary. Query that won't work: SELECT * FROM SCMFISCALACCOUNTS INNER JOIN "\bebertapp01\Ontwikkeling\Test Cases\Advantage R&D\DICTIONARYTEST.add".CLIENT C ON SCMFISCALACCOUNTS.CODE = C.COMPTA

-> From what i've found in the manuals this isn't possible (logically you need to authenticate to a datadictionary). Is there a work around? Can you pass your login and password for the datadictionary bewteen the quotes?

Hi Matthias

You can do that only when the connection that is running the sql is logged into the add. There will be no way around then setting up a 2nd connection that is logged into the add.
