Title:
How to Set Field Permissions on a Table with Advantage
Problem Description:
How can field permissions be set on a table using Advantage?
Solution:
Field permissions are set in the same manner as table permissions by using the GRANT statement through SQL.

The GRANT statement grammar includes the ability to set permissions down to the field level.

For example using the following syntax will allow user1 to select from cust_name and address. It will also allow user1 to update the column balance.
GRANT SELECT( cust_name ), SELECT( address ), UPDATE( balance ) ON customers TO user1;

where as the following syntax will only set full table permissions.
GRANT SELECT, UPDATE ON customers TO user1;
